Police recover illegal firearm and drugs in crime crackdown

Four suspects are facing charges after Benoni Flying Squad recovered drugs, a firearm and 46 rounds of ammunition in separate incidents.

Benoni Flying Squad members arrested four suspects, recovered drugs, a firearm and ammunition between July 27 and 29.

On the afternoon of July 27, members arrested two suspects, aged 21 and 25 years, at Barcelona Extension 34 and Emaphupheni Extension 10 for drug related offences.

Crystal methamphetamine and nyaope (heroin) were recovered in these separate incidents.

At around 02:40, on July 29, members received information from a detective at Tembisa SAPS about a firearm at a residence in Ndaba Street, Emangweni Section, Thembisa.

On arrival at the said residence, two male suspects, aged 41 and 21 years, were found in a back room and immediately arrested when members recovered an unlicensed Taurus revolver and 46 live rounds of ammunition.

An empty cartridge found in the room was also booked in for forensic analysis.
Investigation continues in these cases.
