Police Emergency Services (PES), comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 122 suspects, recovered 38 motor vehicles and nine firearms between August 21 and 27.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols, which led to 40 arrests for serious crimes including assault, possession of suspected stolen property, bribery, house breaking, murder, cruelty to animals, contravention of a protection order, fraud, attempted murder, driving under the influence of alcohol, theft out of motor vehicle, possession of endangered species, damage to essential infrastructure, theft, contravention of the precious metals act and illegal immigrants.A total of 38 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 22 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.

Nine firearms were recovered accompanying 22 arrests.In further policing, 38 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroin, dagga, cat (cocaine), mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.
