Gauteng police arrest 109 suspects and recover 33 stolen vehicles
Police Emergency Services arrested 109 suspects, recovered 33 motor vehicles and two firearms.
Police Emergency Services (PES) members throughout Gauteng arrested 109 suspects, recovered 33 vehicles and confiscated two firearms between September 4 and September 10.
PES spokesperson Warrant Officer Grant Giblin said members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols across the province.
These led to 39 arrests for serious crimes, including assault, possession of suspected stolen property, robbery, murder, attempted murder, driving under the influence of alcohol, contravention of a protection order, pointing of a firearm and illegal immigration.

“Thirty-three hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 10 arrests for the possession of these vehicles,” said Giblin. “Two firearms were recovered accompanying two arrests.”
Giblin added that 58 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroin, dagga, cat (cocaine), mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among the substances confiscated.
The suspects will appear in various local magistrates’ courts across Gauteng, and investigations continue.
