Multi-agency teams including SAPS and EMPD targeted hotspot areas to boost community safety across the Kempton Park precinct.
Police officers and private security partners have joined forces for Operation Shanela II to target crime across Kempton Park.
Gauteng Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Fred Kekana led the joint operation on September 17, accompanied by senior SAPS management, the EMPD, the Department of Home Affairs, private security companies and local community policing forums.

Kekana said similar operations took place simultaneously in other parts of Ekurhuleni, including Kwa-Thema and Olifantsfontein.
“The main objective of every operation is crime prevention and crime combating,” said Kekana.
“At the end of it, if there are criminals to be removed from the streets and the area be safe so that the people can feel safe too.”
Woman found dead in Villa Liza
Kekana also confirmed that a woman’s body was discovered in Villa Liza, within the Dawn Park policing precinct in Boksburg, on the morning of September 17.
According to Kekana, the woman was believed to be approximately 30 years old and was found partially clothed.
“The unfortunate incident just came to our knowledge this morning, at Dawn Park, where a woman roughly 30 years old was found half naked,” he said.

Police attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Kekana said preliminary information indicated that the woman may have been dumped at the location, although he stressed that the investigation would have to establish what happened.
“The preliminary information shows that it seems the body was dumped there, the incident happened somewhere else,” he said.

The investigation into the Villa Liza discovery is ongoing, and police will determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
