23-year-old woman killed in early morning Thembisa robbery

According to SAPS the woman was reportedly on her way to work when she was shot during an alleged robbery.

A 23-year-old woman was shot and killed during an alleged robbery while on her way to work in Temong, Mapungubwe Street, Thembisa, at about 05:45 on September 28.

The deceased was identified as Boitumelo Mashite by her uncle, MC Khoza, who spoke to the Kempton Express/The Thembisan at the scene.

Khoza said Mashite was on her way to work when she was allegedly attacked.

He said her belongings were found at the scene, but her cellphone was taken.

Gauteng police are investigating a case of murder and robbery.

SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili said preliminary investigations had not established any link between the incident and the recent cases involving the bodies of women found in Ekurhuleni.

No arrests have been made and police are following up on leads.
