City works on waste removal backlog in Thembisa

The City of Ekurhuleni is working around the clock to address waste removal backlog in various parts of Thembisa.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) said it is dealing with the service delivery backlog encountered by the community of Thembisa.

According to city spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, the CoE is working around the clock to address the waste removal backlog in various parts of Thembisa.

“One of the key contributors to the backlog has been extensive delays at landfill sites, due to muddy surfaces and the closure of some facilities,” said Dlamini.

The city pleads for patience from its customers as it attends to the backlog.

The areas affected include:

Thursday areas:

• Sedibeng

• Ibazelo and Makhathini

• Clayville West

• Birch Acres.

Friday areas:

• Umthambeka Ext 11

• Rolihlahla and OR Tambo

• Emfihlweni

• Zone 11

• Temong

• Clayville East

• Leboeng

• Esselen Park

• Greenfield.
