CoE officials sworn in during council

Kempton Park’s Clr Danie Putter was sworn in as ward councillor for Ward 25 following the Ward By-Election on May 24.

The speaker of council in the City of Ekurhuleni, Nthabiseng Tshivhenga, officiated the swearing-in of four new chairpersons of S79 committees and a ward councillor.

Kempton Park’s Danie Putter was sworn in as councillor for Ward 25 following the by-election on May 24.

Additionally, Clr Nkgopotse Mekgwe was sworn in as the chairperson of the water, sanitation and energy committee and Clr Lethabo Rachidi was sworn in as the chairperson of the community safety committee.

Clr Kehla Madlala was sworn in as the chairperson of the city planning committee and Clr Jeremia Maraba was sworn in as the chairperson of the transport planning, roads and stormwater committee.

The chairpersons were elected in the ordinary council meeting which took place on May 25.

The swearing-in ceremony was done in accordance with Rule 11 (1), (2) and (3) of the City of Ekurhuleni’s standing orders by-law.

These rules make provision for councillors to swear or affirm their faithfulness and obedience to the republic, the Constitution and council before the magistrate in a council meeting; or at any time by arrangement before the speaker in the speaker’s office.
