Ekurhuleni residents warned of major water shutdown on December 13

The City of Ekurhuleni has advised residents to prepare for an eight-hour water outage on December 13 as Rand Water conducts planned maintenance at its Zuikerbosch plant.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) has notified residents of a large-scale water outage scheduled for December 13, due to planned maintenance by Rand Water at the Zuikerbosch purification plant.

The shutdown will take place from 08:00 to 16:00, with areas across the municipality expected to experience reduced supply or no water for the duration of the work.

According to the city, maintenance at Zuikerbosch is essential for system reliability but will temporarily affect water flow to several towns and extensions.

Residents have been urged to store water in advance and use supplies sparingly throughout the outage period. The city cautioned that full system recovery may take up to 24 hours after maintenance is completed.
