Ekurhuleni assures residents of essential services during festive season

Despite municipal office closures from December 16 to January 2, emergency, water, electricity, and 24-hour healthcare services will remain fully operational.

As the festive season approaches and many prepare to wind down for the holidays, the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) is assuring residents that essential services will remain fully operational even as municipal offices close for the annual recess.

Council offices will be closed from December 16 as it is a public holiday, and on December 24 from 13:00 before reopening on January 2, 2026.

While the closure of municipal offices will not affect essential services such as electricity and water services, the CoE advised residents to use the numbers listed below for any emergency or service interruption.

• Life-threatening emergency line: 011 458 0911 or 10177 or 112 from mobile phones
• Municipal services call centre: 0860 543 000.

The municipality reminded residents to pay their accounts on time and to use the online rates payment platform, Siyakhokha, on www.siyakhokha.ekurhuleni.gov.za
