OR Tambo veld fire: airport operations continue

OR Tambo International Airport stated its operations have not been impacted due to the veld fire.

“Flights are still landing and departing as scheduled,” said Samukelo Khambule, OR Tambo International Airport communications Specialist.

Airport management confirmed earlier that runway 21L/03R had been temporarily closed due to the veld fire that spilled over from the adjacent community within the airport precinct.

“Our fire and rescue team is onsite working tirelessly to extinguish the fire,” Khambule said.
