Kasi’Pride celebrates Thabani

Thabani Masilela runs Imvuselelo Sporting Organisation which provides sports activities for the youth of Thembisa to keep them away from drugs and crime.

Despite incredibly challenging times that have had a devastating effect on many, some individuals continue to do trailblazing work in the communities in which they live.
Blue Ribbon’s Share your Kasi’Pride celebrates these individuals while also helping to cultivate an even stronger community bond and a feeling of togetherness and shared experience in South African townships and communities.
They are entrepreneurs who give back to their communities in a form of basic needs donations and community upliftment initiatives such as mentoring the youth to keep them off the streets or arranging soup kitchens or providing food parcels for the hungry.
Thabani Masilela is one such example. He runs Imvuselelo Sporting Organisation, which provides sports activities for the youth of Thembisa to keep them away from drugs and crime.
Whatever they do to feed, protect, support and serve each other, they do it by living and breathing Kasi’Pride and Blue Ribbon believes it merits recognition.
After a successful launch campaign in Western Cape townships in early 2022, it was decided to roll out the Blue Ribbon Kasi’Pride campaign nationally.
Just like the initial campaign, a series of graffiti walls will be created in designated community areas across the country, utilising the skills of local artists.
As well as being a creative backdrop for selfies, the aim is to also help bring to life the Kasi’Pride message and create pillars of pride that will live in the hearts of those living in the area, reminding locals of their special Kasi spirit.
As part of this campaign, participating communities across our Rainbow Nation will be called upon during October and November to give a much-deserved shout-out to their community heroes.
Blue Ribbon will also be giving back by making donations to some of these empowering projects and NGOs live on the air.
“This fun and inspiring campaign places emphasis on the social values of togetherness, community pride, strength and family. This is the very heart and soul of what makes South Africa great.
“It couldn’t come at a better time with so many communities living in undue hardship. It is an honour to help our communities place a spotlight on the heroes in their own Kasi’s,” said Sarah Hoyte from Blue Ribbon.
