Police engage with locals for a coffee

“During the engagement, the police distributed pamphlets about gender-based violence and service delivery issues."

The Social Crime Prevention Desk aimed to bring the community and police officers closer to each other by hosting the first-ever Coffee-with-a-Cop session at Ebony Park’s Busy Corner on March 7.

While the officers were on hand to talk to the people about whatever they wanted to know about the police, shoppers were treated to scones and coffee.

Captain Ben Matimulane, Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson, said the event was laid-back with the combination of food, friendly officers and a familiar environment.

Police officers give out scones to the shoppers.

“During the engagement, the police distributed pamphlets about gender-based violence and service delivery issues.

“Some community members dressed in blue and accompanied the officers to the session.

“Ivory Park SAPS Youth Crime Desk and Pick n Pay, an anchor tenant at the mall that provided the scones and coffee made the event possible,” said Matimulane.
