70 arrested by local police units
The law enforcers recovered 52 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles.
Between June 30 and July 6, Rapid Response Services, comprising the Flying Squad, K9 units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 70 suspects, recovered 52 vehicles and nine firearms.
Members participated in concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 25 arrests for serious crimes, including assault, possession of a suspected stolen vehicle, fraud, housebreaking and theft, driving under the influence of alcohol and contravention of the Firearms Control Act.

They recovered 52 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles, with 155 arrests for possession of these vehicles.
They recovered nine unlicensed firearms accompanied by six arrests.
In further policing, 24 arrests were made for possession of and dealing drugs.
Heroine, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal meth were some of the drugs confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigations in these cases continue.
The suspects will appear in local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
