Locals rescue a woman from manhole

The SAPS and others worked together to search for a missing lady.

A 52-year-old female was reported missing at the Norkem Park SAPS on July 21 in Kempton Park.

The SAPS Ekurhuleni district spokesperson, Captain Neldah Sekgobela, said that by July 22, a joint operation comprising the SAPS, the CPF, Afriforum, security companies and the community searched for the missing woman.

“They searched all the parks and public places in the surrounding area.

The manhole where the lady was rescued.

“A breakthrough came when Afriforum members found her in a manhole,” said Sekgobela.

She said CPF member Janesque Jacobs climbed into the manhole to rescue the woman before she was taken to Arwyp Medical Centre for medical treatment.

Sekgobela said the station commander and management of the Norkem Park SAPS applauded the work and dedication of those who joined the search.

“Together, we can make a difference,” she said.
