Locals enjoy entrepreneurs market day

Community members need to support markets because many individuals turn to selling homemade goods, therefore it would be nice if people visited markets and demonstrated their support.

The entrepreneurs market was held at Gateway Presbyterian Church on September 2.

The event was described as a success by its organisers with signs that the market will continue to grow and reach out to many more entrepreneurs.

Community members had the opportunity to browse a variety of stalls and interact with entrepreneurs.

Gavin and Nelia During were spotted at the market.

Entrepreneurs from Springs and beyond came to see what Kempton Park has to offer.

The market included freshly made food stalls, arts and crafts, a car wash, paintings and clothing.

Theo Claassens and Michael Kritzingen were spotted at the market enjoying themselves.

The free community event offered a variety of child-friendly activities, including jumping castles.

Event organiser and founder of the entrepreneur market, Suzette van Reenen, said the market has a lot to offer and they are desperately in need of the community to support the market and the vendors.

Anneke van As and Pieter van As were spotted enjoying themselves at the market.

The event is hosted on the first Saturday of the month.

According to Van Reenen, the purpose of the event was to allow vendors to have a stall and sell their products.

“This is an open market and we have realised that a large number of people, particularly seniors or members of the community, rely solely on minimum pension funds or receive no handouts at all.

“Many elderly individuals come to our area to promote and sell their wares in an effort to make a life,” said Van Reenen.

She said that community members need to support markets because many individuals turn to selling homemade goods.
