Wynand Marais Senior Citizens Club hosts a fun day
The Express attended the club activities last week and observed over 81 individuals enjoying themselves, especially those who could shout bingo and receive a cash prize.
The Wynand Marais Senior Citizens Club hosts a morning filled with exciting activities for senior citizens every Wednesday morning.
The Wynand Marais Community Hall is on the corner of Olienhout and Ysterhout Streets in Birchleigh.

“Doors open at 08:30 every Wednesday. We play darts or musical quiz until 10:30. We then break for tea, and from 11:00 to 12:00, the seniors enjoy several games of bingo with great prizes,” said the secretary of the club, Dave Jamieson.

The club was founded in 1994 and has 81 members.

Jamieson said to join, one has to be 55 years or older. The joining fee covers two outings a year, a birthday lunch in June and a Christmas lunch.
“The club’s purpose is to bring the seniors together and have fun activities like darts, music quizzes and charades,“ said Jamieson.

The seniors said they love socialising and playing games.
“I love playing the bingo game, food and interacting with different people,” said Beryl Wiken.
