Pedestrian (35) dies after crash on R21
“A case of culpable homicide has been registered at the Kempton Park police station, where further investigations will be conducted.”
A 35-year-old male pedestrian died after a crash on the R21 on November 28.
According to EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, officers from the EMPD’s Freeway Patrol Unit responded to a crash on the R21 south, between the R23/Benoni on-ramp and the Pomona off-ramp in Kempton Park.
“A 35-year-old male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries after a light delivery vehicle hit him.”

She said that on arrival, officers found the man’s motionless body covered in a space blanket in the middle lane next to the damaged vehicle.

“The medical expert on-site declared the pedestrian dead on the scene.
‘The driver of the vehicle, who was alone at the time of the crash, didn’t sustain any visible injuries but was treated for shock by paramedics on site,” said Thepa.
“A case of culpable homicide has been registered at the Kempton Park Police Station, where further investigations will be conducted,” she said.
