EMPD arrests driver with fake drivers licence
The suspect is facing charges of possession of a fraudulent driver’s licence and failing to stop.
A 35-year-old male motorist was detained by EMPD Thembisa precinct officers on December 6 and a fraudulent official document was seized.
While law enforcement authorities were working on Andrew Mapheto Drive near the Thembisa plaza, they attempted to stop an oncoming five-door gold Renault that appeared to be in a hurry.
This is according to Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, the EMPD’s media liaison officer.

“A male occupant behind the steering wheel, who was alone in the vehicle, showed no intentions to stop as instructed by officers.
“A chase ensued and not long afterwards the hatch-back was cornered on the same stretch of road, next to Esangweni taxi rank.
“The nervous driver couldn’t give a sound answer for his clumsy action. A driver’s licence was requested and the motorist produced a counterfeit.
“The lawbreaker, facing charges of possession of a fraudulent driver’s license and failing to stop, was handcuffed and marched to the Thembisa South Police Station.
