Man gets shot and injured during attempted robbery on Monument Road

The South African Police Service (SAPS) Members, are busy with investigations, since a docket of an attempted armed robbery, has been registered, at the Kempton Park police station.

Officers from the EMPD Kempton Park precinct attended the scene of an armed robbery on Monument Road on January 9.

On arrival, officers found a bleeding male patient in his 50s, lying on the side of the roadway with a gunshot wound to his leg.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, the EMPD spokesperson, the preliminary investigations revealed that the man was shot at by two male assailants driving a Mercedes Benz sedan in what looked like an armed robbery attempt.

The cause of the shooting is unknown.

Medical experts responded to the scene and the patient was transported to the nearest medical facility, for further treatment.

The motive behind the shooting could not be determined and will form part of a detained police investigation.
