Kembirch Secondary School still not complete
Kembirch Secondary is not yet complete as toilets are yet to be connected to the sewage system.
Kembirch Secondary School has faced several delays since the satellite school was proposed late last year.
Despite this, classes are finally underway for the 10 classes of Grade Eight learners placed at the school.
While schools reopened on January 17 for all government schools, Kembirch learners had to wait till January 22 to start learning.

On January 17, classes were not yet ready, ablution facilities were not connected to infrastructure and there was no tuck shop.
The Kempton Express spoke to a parent who has since decided to take her child to a different school as she was uncertain about what was happening at the school and she said she had to put her child’s education first.
The Kempton Express visited Kembirch Secondary School on January 22 and all learners were in class.
The Gauteng Department of Education’s Ekurhuleni north district director Nonceba Ntuta was present at the school to oversee first day proceedings.
The Kempton Express paid another visit to the school on January 29 and found that while classes were in session and learning had begun, the toilets were still not connected to the infratructure and children were using portable facilities.
As a result of this, classes were adjourned at 12:30.

On January 22, when asked for an interview about the state of affairs surrounding the school and principal, Ntuta instructed the Kempton Express to contact the department’s spokesperson Steve Mabona for comment.

The Kempton Express sent an enquiry to the department’s spokesperson on January 24, requesting comment for January 29.
By the time of going to print, no comment was received.
