Four suspects caught for business robbery in Kempton Park
The four suspects face charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, reckless and negligent driving, possession of suspected stolen items and possible armed robbery.
The EMPD Public Policing (POPS), the K9 Unit, the Northern Region Task Team and Kempton Park precinct officers arrested four men in a high-density operation on January 26.
EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said the EMPD officers were patrolling on the corner of Highveld and Agony streets when a passer-by approached them.
He alleged a supermarket had been robbed not far from the roving roadblock and described the vehicle used in the crime’s commission.

“The officers responded swiftly. While driving on Highveld Road, they spotted a blue Toyota Corolla hatchback fitting the description of the wanted car, with four male occupants. An attempt to stop the car failed because the Corolla drove away.”
A chase ensued, and officers cornered the Toyota not far from the Kempton Park precinct.
Thepa said officers thoroughly searched the Toyota Corolla and its occupants.
They found two smartphones, an undisclosed sum of cash, seven tins of baby formula, a 9mm pistol with its serial number tampered with and live rounds.
