Dojos recognise karatekas for outstanding performances

The New World Shotokan Karate Kempton Park Dojo and the Benoni Dojo held their annual awards ceremony on February 13.

The event awarded karatekas for their outstanding performances in the previous year.

“It was a busy and successful year,” said sensei Janien Potgieter (sixth dan).

“Our karatekas attended gradings, gashukus (training camps), and championship placings. It was a great year for Kempton Dojo, with two shodan gradings.”

The 2023 most outstanding and dedicated karatekas award went to Agata Szafranski, Megané Potgieter and Kelsey Szafranski.

The most technical karateka of 2023 went to Potgieter.
