#KemptonPower: Several areas will remain off until further notice

Residents in Cresslawn, Rhodesfield and the Kempton Park CBD are among those who will have to wait longer for power to be restored.

While power restoration has begun for several areas in Kempton Park, others will remain off until further notice.

The areas that will not be restored yet include parts of Spartan (Plane Road, Derrick Road, Forge Road, Steel Road and surroundings), Cresslawn, Rhodesfield x1, Kempton Park x1-4, Kempton Park CBD and Festival Mall.

Residents who still await power restoration are advised to switch off non-essential appliances.

Previously reported

The process of restoring power to a large portion of Kempton Park has begun.

At this stage it is still unclear what the problem was.

Power restoration will be done in phases to avoid a system overload.

The outage has affected numerous areas including Croydon, Spartan, Terenure, Edleen, Kempton Park West, Glen Marais, Aston Manor, Bonaero Park, Birchleigh, Birch Acres, Van Riebeeck Park, Norkem Park and more.

Information shared earlier on social media platforms indicated that the fault could be on the 66kv supply line.

Ward 16 councillor, Jaco Terblanche posted that the power outage could be attributed to several causes.

“According to an update from the MMC of Entergy, a cable supply in Kempton Park tripped. The specific cause was identified as a fault on the blue phase,” he said in a post on various community WhatsApp groups.
