“The city appeals to the public to seize the opportunity and constructively contribute to the formulation of these important documents that guide the development and ‘service delivery agenda of the city’,” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

He added the meetings have been scheduled for the evenings to accommodate many people, including the working class and students.

The IDP is a process through which municipalities prepare a strategic development plan which extends over five years.

In terms of the Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, all municipalities have to undertake an IDP process to produce IDPs.

During its five-year life cycle, the IDP is reviewed and updated annually.

The annual budget provides the Medium-Term Revenue and Expenditure Framework (MTREF), which sets out the financial path for the ensuing three years.
