Thembisa recovering drug addicts clean up illegal dumping sites
The group also wants to keep Thembisa clean and give people hope that this area can be developed.
Recovering drug addicts from Tembisa Drug Rehabilitation Movement founded by Thato Matome, himself a recovering addict, gave back to the community by cleaning up sites of illegal dumping.
The recovering drug addicts, together with Matome, visited the Caprivi grounds on April 20 for the cleanup.
They aimed through the cleanup to ask the community for forgiveness for what they had done to dishearten them.

The group also wants to keep Thembisa clean and give people hope that this area can be developed.
Matome said their weekly sessions, which teach them about forgiveness, respect and discipline, inspired them to do a cleanup.
“The program we use teaches us the spirit of forgiveness, respect, discipline and to accept the wrongs we did within our communities and our families as we stole to support our habit and hurting the ones we loved,” Matome said.
He added what the recovering drug addicts did to the community while they were under the influence cannot be forgotten, but can be forgiven based on their actions and the steps they have taken to become better people and contribute to the community.
Matome added that anyone who wants to see a change in the community must first become an example to the community and show them it can happen.
“We are setting an example for the community. No one is perfect, and everyone deserves a second chance to become a better person in the community.
“We also like to spread the word that we are the movement that will strive to bring change to our community and our beloved country, most especially to our fellow brothers and sisters who are still suffering from addiction to drugs,” Matome added.
