Norkem Park SAPS arrested a group of fraudsters on May 30 after multiple cases were registered against them at the police station.

The Ekhurluleni North region infrastructure team followed up on the information regarding the people who advertised executive posts on Facebook.

Three women and a male were caught red-handed by the police officers.

According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Barbara-Anne Ferreira, the suspects advertised posts on Facebook and then called the victims to meet them at a guest house in Van Riebeeck Park.

“At the guest house, they ask for payment to verify the buyer’s credentials and also provide a police clearance without taking fingerprints,” said Ferreira.

According to Ferreira, the suspects then disappeared with the money given to them by their victims.

“The Facebook page was false as there were no executive posts.”

Ferreira said EFT payments were also paid to the guest house to rent a room, and after payment, the payment was reversed.

The police officers arrested and detained the suspects at Norkem Park Police Station.

The suspects will appear at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon.

“An investigation is ongoing,” said Ferreira.

“We want to warn our community that a police clearance is only done by the police station. The delegated police officer will take your fingerprints, and there will be a payment of R180,” said Ferreira.
