Flying squad catch 11 suspects, drugs and vehicles recovered

A 37-year-old suspect was arrested at a hotel in Kempton Road, Kempton Park when officers followed up information from a tracking company.

Benoni Flying Squad members arrested eleven 11 suspects, recovered drugs and three motor vehicles between October 15 and October 19.

Six suspects were arrested at Vusimuzi and Emangweni Sections, Thembisa, Ext 2, Ivory Park and Mayfield, Putfontein for possession of drugs.

Crystal methamphetamine, cat (cocaine) and nyaope (heroine) were recovered in these separate incidents.

Members patrolling N12 on Thursday at around 10:00 pulled over a white Ford Ranger towing a white Toyota Fortuner.

A search was conducted which led to the arrest of a 37-year-old foreign national when 20 sealed plastic bags of dagga were recovered with an estimated value of around R20 000.

While detaining the suspect at Benoni SAPS another 39-year-old suspect was detained after he offered members R2 000 for the release of the dagga suspect.

The members are commended for their stance against bribery.

On Saturday at around 12:30 members raced to give back up to security personnel in Pretoria Road, Boksburg where they had pulled over a blue BMW 3-series bearing false number plates with two occupants inside.

Investigation led to the testing of the chassis number which revealed that the vehicle was sought on a hijacking case reported in Vereeniging in May 2024.

Two suspects were immediately arrested.

Investigation continues.

The suspects will appear in the local magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of drugs, bribery, use of motor vehicle without owner’s consent and possession of hijacked motor vehicle.
