In response to these alarming statistics, Nkosi emphasised that “the figures underscore the urgent need for effective intervention strategies to support young people facing these challenges”.
“The importance of encouraging youth to use the Youth Zones available at all healthcare facilities was also emphasised,” added Nkosi.
“These zones are designed to facilitate access to health services and information for young people to empower them to make informed decisions regarding their sexual and reproductive health.”
Thusi echoed these sentiments, saying the CoE, in collaboration with the Gauteng Government, was committed to developing actionable strategies and policies aligned with health and wellness goals for the 2023-2028 period.
