“I never expected to find a pristine indigenous reserve in the middle of Johannesburg,” remarked a recent German visitor to Melville Koppies.
This natural haven continues to amaze visitors of all ages.
Recently, a family group enjoyed a unique experience on the Koppies, trying their hand at grinding sorghum using ancient grinding stones as part of their exploration.

Melville Koppies is open every Sunday morning from 8:00 to 11:30, offering various activities for visitors:
• Self-guided trails: Choose between a 5km trail, a 3km heritage trail, or a scavenger hunt for curious minds. Entry is R90 for adults and R50 for those under 18.

Visitors can rest assured knowing the reserve is secure and safe for solo walks.
Parking is available opposite the Melville Koppies entrance at Marks Park Sports Club on Judith Road, Emmarentia.
All proceeds from entrance fees contribute directly to the upkeep and maintenance of the Koppies.
