Links Combined College honour learners for excellence

Links Combined College has focused on building a team of dedicated educators and support staff to provide consistent and high-quality education.

held a memorable prize-giving ceremony on November 29 to celebrate the remarkable achievements of its learners and educators.

The event brought together the school community in a joyous atmosphere of recognition and encouragement.

While this has been a challenge in previous years, the school has made significant strides, resulting in a noticeable improvement in learner outcomes.

The college prides itself on nurturing well-rounded, balanced individuals.

Principal Moyo emphasised that academic excellence is just one aspect of their goals.

“The potential we see in our children is immense as they develop.

“It’s not just about excelling academically; we also aim to cultivate other facets of their personalities.

“We’re committed to tapping into their full potential,” he said.

Parents enjoy the event as they witness their children have fun.

Moyo expressed his pride in the students’ achievements.

“We were elated to witness their accomplishments.

“It was heart-warming for the children to see that their communities, not just their parents, are invested in their success.”

The school’s directors, Tebogo Ngwenya and Andile Motheo Ngwenya, stressed the importance of parental involvement in children’s development.

“Many parents wish they had more support and guidance when they were younger.

“Now, they have the chance to offer that to their children.

“Supporting a child’s education requires involvement, sacrifice, and co-operation. Ignoring this responsibility often leads to unwanted consequences,” they said.

Looking ahead, the school aims to further enhance its learners’ skills across various disciplines.

Learners gear up for their next journey in life.

While acknowledging that there’s still progress to be made, the leadership is encouraged by the positive momentum.

Moyo also highlighted the growth in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects.

“In 2023, interest and performance in maths and science were below expectations compared to other subjects.

This year, however, we’ve seen significant improvement, with more children excelling in STEM,” he said.
