Man arrested by EMPD for driving under the influence
EMPD officers arrested a man for driving drunk on the evening of December 5.
EMPD Overloads Unit officers apprehended a 40-year-old man for driving under the influence of alcohol on the R21 in Kempton Park on December 5.
The EMPD Specialised Unit was doing a pedestrian management operation in the area when they noticed a white Toyota LDV changing lanes without using indicators.
They stopped it, and while interacting with the driver, officers smelt alcohol.

A breathalyzer test confirmed the driver was intoxicated.
The officers then took him to a nearby medical facility to have a blood sample drawn before being arrested and transported him to the Kempton Park Police Station.
The suspect faces drunken driving charges and should soon appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.
