SADAG puts teen suicide in the spotlight
The youth in South Africa are especially vulnerable as they are exposed to many factors that can lead to Mental Health problems.

For many years, SADAG has commemorated Teen Suicide Prevention Week, observed annually during the second week of February.
This year’s theme, ‘Your Feelings Matter, Let’s Talk’, highlights the importance of acknowledging the feelings of others and their need for emotional support.
Teen Suicide Prevention Week aims to raise awareness early in the year about youth suicide and empower young people with the knowledge of how to cope with emotional distress and the resources available to encourage help-seeking behaviour.

Suicide is one of the top five leading causes of death among 15 to 19-year-olds according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
This statistic underlines the fact that Mental Health and access to resources are critically important for communities.
The youth in South Africa are especially vulnerable as they are exposed to many factors that can lead to Mental Health problems.
SADAG aims to continue reaching young people with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate challenges, build resilience, and prioritise their mental well-being.

This year, they have planned talks and activities that will share vital information that may help you or a loved one.
SADAG is hosting live events across social media pages (Facebook, Tik Tok and Instagram) from February 11 to 14 for teens, youth, parents, educators and caregivers.
