Melville Koppies hike inspires youth with nature and local history

Over 75 young Pathfinders from the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Berea hiked Melville Koppies, learning navigation skills and local history while embracing the outdoors as part of their youth development programme.

More than 75 pathfinders, aged between 10 and 15 from the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Berea, accompanied by their leaders, visited Melville Koppies as part of the Pathfinders programme.

They hiked up and down the Koppies, revelling in the natural environment. Melville Koppies challenged them to read the map to guide themselves.

At the lecture hut, they grounded sorghum and listened to Wendy Carstens’s input on the history of the people who once lived on the Koppies.
