EMPD arrests 20 illegal immigrants during Ekurhuleni crackdown

The EMPD’s specialised services unit arrested 20 undocumented foreign nationals during operations between August 4 and 10.

The arrests took place in Brakpan, Crystal Park, Springs, Benoni, Primrose and Germiston.

According to the EMPD, officers were conducting crime prevention operations when they intercepted the suspects, aged between 20 and 50, who failed to produce valid passports.

The suspects were charged with contravening the Immigration Act and are expected to appear in a magistrate’s court soon.
