Complete 2026 Gauteng school applications before August 29

Parents have until midnight on August 29 to apply online for 2026 Gauteng school placements for Grade One and Eight learners.

The Gauteng Department of Education urges parents to utilise the few remaining days to apply for the 2026 online admissions for Grade One and Grade Eight.

The application process commenced on 24 July and is set to close at midnight on August 29. On the website, parents can apply to a maximum of five schools.

Parents are encouraged to submit documents to all the schools they applied to within seven days after applying. Documents can also be uploaded on the system to one school for the other schools to view.

The necessary documents include parents’ identity documents, the child’s birth certificate, proof of address, the child’s clinic card (for Grade One) and the child’s Grade Seven report (for Grade Eight).

There are decentralised walk-in centres where parents can be assisted to make applications from 08:00 to 16:00.
Note that you can also use your cellphone to make an application.
Please use a reliable cellphone number, as the department will send regular SMS’s to the number you used to register and apply. For more information, visit the Gauteng Department of Education’s portal at https://education.gauteng.gov.za
