Norkem Park hosts Iziko Women Empowerment event

Event held to remind women that they are never alone in what they are facing.

Norkem Park SAPS, in partnership with You Are Not Alone (YANA) and various stakeholders, hosted the Iziko Women Empowerment event on August 23.

The programme was dedicated to supporting women and helping them heal from past trauma, creating a safe and uplifting space where participants could share, learn, and draw strength from one another.

Psychologist Dr Zwane from Hluma Medical Centre addressed the audience, explaining the symptoms of grief and trauma while providing practical guidance on coping strategies and beginning the journey of healing.

Social worker Jabulile Maseko from YANA led a symbolic candlelight ceremony in honour of all women experiencing trauma, anxiety, and depression, reminding them that they are not alone.

The day became a celebration of resilience, unity, and the power of women standing together.

Keynote speaker Mrs Nkosi delivered an inspiring message, encouraging women to see themselves as the salt of the earth.

She emphasised that the pain of one woman is shared by all, and that women can rise above their struggles by supporting and empowering one another.

Norkem Park SAPS communications officer Sergeant Portia Mkhondo extended her appreciation to all stakeholders who made the event possible, including SAPS, the Youth Desk, YANA, EMPD, the Department of Social Development, the Department of Health, Life Impact Church, and others.
