Learners explore careers with guidance from Norkem Park SAPS

Norkem Park SAPS communications officer Sergeant Portia Mkhondo shared information about careers in policing, safety, and community service.

Birch Acres Primary School hosted a career day on September 16, with Norkem Park SAPS honoured to take part.

Norkem Park SAPS communications officer Sergeant Portia Mkhondo joined various stakeholders, including the SAPS Youth Desk, You Are Not Alone (YANA), the Department of Health, EMPD and others, to showcase career opportunities.

Learners had the chance to engage with professionals from different fields, gaining valuable insight into possible career paths.

The initiative aimed to motivate, inspire and prepare young learners to dream big and make informed decisions about their future.

“Learners were encouraged to stay focused on their education, avoid negative influences such as bullying, substance abuse and criminal activities, and to set long-term goals for their future.

“The career day was a success, leaving learners motivated and better informed about the different opportunities available to them as they grow and prepare for secondary schooling and beyond,” said Mkhondo.

She also spoke about careers in policing, safety and community service, while other professionals represented a wide range of departments and industries.
