City continues efforts to resolve refuse collection backlogs
Residents in affected areas must not place refuse out for collection until further notice as a recovery plan is expected by end of the week.
The City of Ekurhuleni has said efforts continue to clear the waste removal backlog affecting Kempton Park, Etwatwa, Daveyton and Thembisa.
According to City spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, the backlog developed after waste removal contractors halted service provision.

Residents are requested not to place domestic refuse out for collection until further notice.
A comprehensive waste recovery plan is expected to be communicated before the end of the week.
