Tembisa taxi association honoured for boosting safety and support at Thembisa Mile

Chairman of TELTA Zweli Mnisi and his team recognized for his roles in community engagements.

The Tembisa Local Taxi Association (TELTA) was recognised for its support and participation in this year’s Thembisa Mile, where its team played a key role in event control, traffic management and safety.

TELTA partnered with the organisers of the Mile as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting community initiatives in the township.

In acknowledgement of its contribution, the association’s chairperson, Zweli Mnisi, and his team were presented with medals and certificates.

Founder of the Thembisa Mile, Donald Mathipa, expressed his appreciation for TELTA’s involvement.

“Thank you, TELTA, for the unwavering support at the Thembisa Mile and 10km run in October. Your presence and patrol vehicles at race junctions meant a lot to us in terms of traffic control and managing the event in the morning. You contributed to the overall success of the race.

“Thank you to the PRO for organising the taxi industry’s involvement for the first time. We are looking forward to working and partnering with you again for the next race in 2026,” Mathipa said.

Mnisi said the association was honoured by the recognition. “I Even though I was not part of the team at the event, I am happy to have been recognised. I am thankful to our PRO and his team for representing us at the Mile.

“Giving back to the community and supporting local initiatives is part of our mandate,” said Mnisi.

“Since taking office, our goal has been to engage with the community and support them fully. We want our efforts to be visible, not hidden behind the scenes. We are here to support our community, and in turn, they support our business.”

TELTA officials also recently took part in the Slothjile Marathon in September, where the association was again acknowledged. Proactive involvement by TELTA PRO, Noah Moleya, and his team was praised by organisers.
