Zero tolerance on unroadworthy vehicles in Gauteng

Authorities warn that unroadworthy vehicles and cars without valid permits will be impounded as the province intensifies checks.

Gauteng law enforcement officials have discontinued 28 unsafe vehicles during festive season roadblocks in the past week.

The province has 255 455 unroadworthy vehicles recorded on NaTIS — the highest number in the country.

MEC Kedibone Diale-Tlabela stated, “If your vehicle is not roadworthy, it will not be allowed on Gauteng roads. We are prioritising safety, no excuses.”

Officers will impound unroadworthy vehicles and vehicles operating without valid permits.

Motorists are urged to fix vehicle defects and ensure full compliance before travelling.
