Ekurhuleni Mayor reshuffles Mayoral Committee under new governance framework
Mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza appoints new committee members and portfolios to strengthen coalition governance and service delivery in Ekurhuleni.
Ekurhuleni Mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza made strategic changes to his Mayoral Committee with effect from February 17.
Following consultations with multi-party organisations represented in the Council, including 13 of the 16 political parties, an agreed-upon Ekurhuleni Governance Framework will guide the work of the executive.
The framework provides a foundation to strengthen a sustainable Ekurhuleni Government of Local Unity (EGLU).

The newly appointed committee members and their portfolios:
• Metro Utilities (Trading) Services: Clr Jean Sthato;
• Metro Operations and Maintenance: Clr Nomadlozi Nkosi;
• Human Settlements: Clr Leshaka Manamela;
• Development Planning and Real Estate: Clr Dino Peterson;
• Roads and Transport: Clr Lindiwe Mnguni;
• Community Services and By-Law Enforcement: Clr Xolani Khumalo;
• Community Safety: Clr Mzayifani Ngwenya;
• Corporate Shared Services: Clr Siphumule Ntombela;
• Infrastructure and Economic Development Agency: Clr Thembi Msane;
• Finance and Strategy: Clr Jongizizwe Dlabathi;

The principles of the Ekurhuleni Governance Framework:
• The coalition is based on a common minimum programme, focused on measurable targets for service delivery and community development;
• Coalition partners commit to shared values, stability, accountability, ethics, integrity, community participation, good governance, respect for the constitution and rule of law, social justice, equity, human dignity, non-racialism and non-sexism;
• Cohesion, stability, and people-centred governance;
• Governance rooted in a pro-poor, people-centred agenda, providing services to residents with responsiveness and agility.
The new committee members were sworn in on February 18 at the OR Tambo Government Precinct, Mayors Parlour.
