SAPS educates learners on bullying, substance abuse and teen pregnancy

SAPS teach learners about the dangers of crime in the community.

Members of the SAPS visited Christian Excellence Academy on March 17 to engage learners on critical social issues affecting young people.

The school talk focused on topics such as bullying, substance abuse and teenage pregnancy, with officers aiming to educate and empower learners to make informed decisions.

The initiative also sought to equip learners with the knowledge and skills needed to build positive relationships, resist peer pressure and contribute to a culture of respect, responsibility and excellence within the school environment.

Constable Kate Selepe from Thembisa South SAPS said the session was designed to create awareness about the risks and consequences associated with these challenges.

“Learners will gain a deeper understanding of the risks and consequences associated with bullying, substance abuse and teenage pregnancy. They will also be equipped with essential life skills to navigate peer pressure, build resilience and make healthy choices,” said Selepe.

She added that the interaction between officers and learners encourages openness and accountability.

“The engagement promotes awareness about the importance of reporting incidents, seeking help and contributing to a safe and supportive school environment. Ultimately, the talk aims to inspire learners to strive for excellence, make positive choices and become responsible citizens who positively impact their communities.”
