Taxi, bus crash at Zuurfontein and R25 leaves several injured

Paramedics assessed some of the patients on scene and recorded eight individuals with moderate injuries and one with minor injuries.

A fully loaded Toyota Quantum taxi collided with a Harambee bus at the intersection of Zuurfontein Road and the R25 in Chloorkop today, March 26.

City of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) teams from Station 12 responded swiftly to the scene to provide emergency assistance.

DEMS spokesperson Eric Maloka said that on arrival, emergency personnel were informed that an unknown number of patients had already been transported to nearby medical facilities by private ambulance services.

“Paramedics assessed the remaining patients on scene and recorded eight individuals with moderate injuries and one with minor injuries. Commuters on the bus were not injured,” said Maloka.

The P91 route was heavily affected following the crash, with metro police officers assisting with traffic control.

The cause of the accident remains unknown and is under investigation by the EMPD.
