CPF warns residents of suspects posing as bouncers outside clubs

Kempton Park CPF has raised concerns over suspects posing as security guards to rob young people outside clubs at closing time.

Kempton Park CPF is urging residents to exercise caution when going out at night to socialise.

According to Izelle van den Berg, executive public relations officer, the CPF has received reports of a group of individuals targeting clubs, particularly around closing times.

“These suspects are pretending to be bouncers outside the venues. They approach young people, claim to be conducting searches, and then rob them of their phones and personal belongings,” said Van den Berg.

Residents are advised to take note of the following safety precautions:
• Do not allow anyone outside a club to search you.
• Legitimate security operates inside the venue, not randomly outside.
• If approached, firmly refuse and move away immediately.
• Stay in groups at all times and avoid walking alone.
• Keep your belongings secure and remain aware of your surroundings.
Community members are encouraged to look out for one another and ensure everyone gets home safely.
