Football Fever Hits Mall of Thembisa with FIFA Fan Fest

Supporters are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the entertainment and festivities before the match begins at 21:00.

Football fans and community members are invited to gather at Mall of Thembisa for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Fan Fest, where they will have the opportunity to watch Bafana Bafana’s opening World Cup match against Mexico on June 11.

The live screening forms part of a FIFA and Coca-Cola fan engagement initiative and will see supporters come together to experience the excitement of South Africa’s first FIFA World Cup appearance since 2010.

The match, scheduled to kick off at 21:00, also revives memories of the 2010 FIFA World Cup opener, when South Africa and Mexico played to a memorable 1-1 draw at Soccer City.

Fans can look forward to an evening of football, live entertainment and community spirit. Tickets are available through the mall’s centre management office.

Mall of Thembisa marketing manager Mfunekwa Sithole said the event is designed to bring the community together through their shared love of football.

“We have a lot of entertainment lined up for viewers, including performances by Njelic, Daliwonga and Junior RSA.

“E-hailing services will also be accommodated at a designated pick-up and drop-off area. The event will begin at 18:00 as we build up to kick-off,” said Sithole.

Supporters are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the entertainment and festivities before the match begins.

The event promises a memorable evening of football and live music as fans cheer on Bafana Bafana in their first FIFA World Cup appearance in 16 years.
