Kempton Park beauty queen shines at Face of the Universe 2026

Kempton Park’s Yolandi Naicker has made her mark on the international pageant stage after being crowned first runner-up at Face of the Universe 2026, held in Yangon, Myanmar, from July 25 to 31.

Representing South Africa, Naicker also received the best in talent award, capping off months of preparation and dedication.

According to Naicker, she is the first South African Legacy Queen to be crowned first runner-up at the international competition.

For her, the achievement represents far more than a pageant title.

“It is about proving that ordinary women with extraordinary purpose can change lives. Every challenge I have faced has prepared me for this moment, and every step I have taken has been about making South Africa proud,” she said.

Preparing to represent South Africa on the international stage required months of training, including rehearsals, interviews, fitness, public speaking, wardrobe preparations and personal development.

Naicker said she also spent time strengthening her leadership and communication skills while learning more about global issues to ensure she represented both her country and her values with confidence.

Throughout her reign as Mrs Face of the Universe South Africa 2026, she has focused on mental health awareness through her initiative, Crown Your Mind, encouraging people to seek help without fear of stigma.

She is also passionate about women’s empowerment, youth development, education, mentorship and community upliftment.

“I don’t want my crown to represent perfection. I want it to represent hope. If someone sees my journey and realises that they, too, can rise above their circumstances, then I have fulfilled my purpose,” she said.

Naicker said her journey has not been without challenges, but believes those experiences have strengthened her resilience and compassion.

Rather than allowing setbacks to define her, she has used them to encourage others and promote the values of authenticity, leadership and service.

She believes those qualities contributed to her success at Face of the Universe, where she was recognised not only for her stage presence but also for her commitment to making a positive difference.

Being named first runner-up is a personal achievement, but Naicker believes it is also a milestone for South Africa.

“I hope my journey reminds every young girl, every woman and every dreamer that greatness does not begin on an international stage – it begins with believing in yourself when no one else can see the dream.

“From the streets of Kempton Park to the international spotlight, I have shown that purpose is more powerful than circumstance, service is more meaningful than success and legacy is built not by the crown you wear, but by the lives you inspire,” she said.

Looking ahead, Naicker said she hopes to continue using her platform to uplift, empower and inspire others through community service and advocacy.
