Laerskool Impala learners excel at public speaking event

They then represented their region at the Gauteng Provinces’ finals, held at the Women’s Museum in Pretoria.

Three learners from Laerskool Impala recently excelled at the Gauteng Department of Education’s School Sports and Extra-curricular Coordination Team Public Speaking event.

After two gruelling qualifier rounds, the team called Passionately Explosive placed first respectively at the Ekurhuleni North District’s first and final rounds.

They then represented their region at the Gauteng Provinces’ finals, held at the Women’s Museum in Pretoria.

After a fantastic performance, the three learners, Lisa Minnaar, Hendré Keyser and Teneal Keyser, all in Grade 7, achieved an overall second place.

The school and team were each awarded a trophy and each learner a well-deserved medal and book voucher to the value of R1 500.

The team each received a MECER ExpressExec 10.1 tablet with the value of R14 000.

Lisa Minnaar, from the Cillie Cilliers Drama School, was awarded the best speaker award in Gauteng and received a trophy and book voucher to the value of R1 000.

Hendré Keyser placed third overall.
