#IMadeMyMark: This is what residents are VOTING for TODAY

"We need to do away with corruption and we call for the introduction of programmes that will uplift and empower our people and create jobs."

As voters take to the voting stations today for the Local Government Elections 2021, we asked them what they are voting for. Here is what they said:

Albert Matumba.

Albert Matumba:
“I voted because I want better housing services. I have been a Thembisa resident for over 30 years and to this day, I am still just renting a room. I voted to own a piece of land that I can call my home.”

Rodney Thukwana.

Rodney Thukwana:
“I voted because I want the municipal taxes to be reduced because we are paying too much. Some grannies do not have money to pay the monthly bills and feed their grandchildren at the same time.”

Lerato Nchwe.

Lerato Nchwe:
“I voted to see progress in South Africa, our economy has taken a knock. We need to do away with corruption and we call for the introduction of programmes that will uplift and empower our people and create jobs.”

Desree Ramalpe.

Desree ramalpe:

“We want jobs, and a cleaner Thembisa. Thembisa has become filthy and we have been promised lies for years by our government. Government should stop promising us. The door-to-door campaigns during elections should return every two months to hear what people struggle with.”
