Notices are delivered too soon

I read the letter of Freddie (March 6) regarding final notices for payment.

Very interesting to note his concerns because it is a concern for many ratepayers in Ekurhuleni.

Somebody is taking us for a ride and making lots of money from innocent ratepayers that pay on a regular basis but might sometimes be a couple of days late with their payment.

Ratepayers have different due dates for payment, why? Be consistent, City of Ekurhuleni, allow ratepayers to pay the end of the month – for everybody.

In the metro’s reply: “…,the unpaid amount is in arrears and a final demand notice shall be sent and hand delivered.” Yes, it is hand delivered too soon. I agree with Freddie, if only this municipality can provide all services with the same zeal that they send out final notices. Please, also inform the people of Kempton Park how much money the final notices contribute to the municipality’s income.

Finally, Ekhurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, the ratepayers are waiting for the refuse “area cleansing levy” to be removed from our bills. We are waiting for a reply from Clr Moses Makwakwa, member of mayoral committee for finance, to inform us exactly what was done with this money.

We would appreciate that reply and information in Kempton Express, the only channel that gives us, the ratepayer, a fair voice and channel to voice our concerns.
