PR councillor concerned about hijackings
The cause for concern comes after two hijackings occurred in the area in the space of a few weeks

A few weeks ago my car was stolen in Birch Acres while canvassing on Kwartel Road and on Monday, April 21, I witnessed another car being stolen.
I witnessed women very excited about a car that was stolen at Birch Acres Primary School along Sneeubal Street. Both cars were taken in broad daylight.
My car theft act was witnessed by a man looking for work at the stop street. The second hijacking act was witnessed by women who seemed excited by the theft and I heard them indicating that the thieves wanted to steal more than one car but couldn’t because something had disturbed them.
Thieves are becoming arrogant and very brave because of lack of policing in the area.
Sector 3, which is a rather vast area, is covered by only two sector vehicles, which I think is highly inadequate for such a big area that covers all the Birch Acres area and its extensions.
Crime in the area is getting out of hand and should be given a priority by the police.
I plan on engaging with the police personally in the future on matters raised and will also engage the local communities on getting them more involved in crime prevention by working together with the police sector in their policing efforts.
